September marks the ending of summer, and the beginning of Chaplaincy Grief Care’s fall support groups and classes. Support groups and classes are free and open to anyone in the community who is experiencing grief due to the death of a loved one.
We offer two 10-week groups:
- Coming to Terms with Loss – Open to adults experience grief due to the death of a loved one. It is educational as well as supportive. Books for the group are available to borrow, or may be purchased for $27. This group meets Tuesdays, September 12 – November 14 from 6-7:30 pm
OR Thursdays, September 14 to November 16 from 6-7:30 pm. - Widowed Support Group – This group welcomes widow or widowers and partners who are experiencing grief due to the death of their loved one. Books for the group are available to borrow, or may be purchased for $27. Meeting times are: Tuesdays, September 12 – November 14 from 12 Noon to 1:30 pm OR Wednesdays, September 13 – November 15 from 12 Noon to 1:30 pm OR 6-7:30 pm.
For those who prefer a one-time class:
- Understanding Grief: An Introduction covers common grief reactions, uniqueness of each person’s grief, as well as healthy coping strategies. Choose from one of these dates: Saturday, September 16 from 10 am – Noon; Thursday, October 12 from Noon – 2 pm; and Thursday, December 14 from Noon to 2 pm.
- Hope for the Holidays – Open to adults seeking information to better navigate the holiday season following a loss. The class offers practical, concrete suggestions to assist in managing the stress, loneliness and confusion that holidays can bring. Choose from one of these dates: Saturday, November 4 from Noon to 2 pm; Wednesday, November 8 from 4 pm – 6 pm; and Saturday, December 2 from Noon to 2 pm.
