At Tri-Cities Chaplaincy, our hospice care program consists of a team of professionals and volunteers who work together to meet the physiological, emotional, social, and spiritual needs of those facing end-of-life and bereavement. Along with a medical director, registered nurses, social workers, chaplains, volunteers, and grief and bereavement specialists, our care team has another partner — you!
You are essential to helping us provide patient and family services like chaplains, volunteers, and bereavement care. These three critical services are required by Medicare, but we do not receive reimbursements for them — at a substantial cost to our agency.
Chaplain Services
The hospice care chaplain is an integral member of the hospice care team, providing emotional and spiritual support to patients and their families. They serve all people, regardless of their religious affiliation, including those with no faith, and encourage each individual to draw upon their spiritual resources, faith tradition, or personal philosophy. They help with life changes, decision-making, relationships, and values, focusing on whatever is most important to the patient.
Our professional chaplains meet hospice patients and their families where they are, providing hope, peace, and connection.
Volunteer Program
Our compassionate team of trained volunteers share their time and talents with hospice patients and their families. They are integral in helping us serve others with impeccable physical, emotional, and spiritual care. Volunteers visit hospice patients in their homes and at the Hospice House and offer help, comfort, and companionship. Volunteers may sit and visit with patients, help with housekeeping, or provide temporary relief to caregivers. Volunteers can support patients from afar by sewing quilts or creating care packages when direct care is not needed.
Volunteers provide extraordinary support to hospice patients and their families and are crucial to our care team.
Grief and Bereavement Services
Our grief and bereavement services ensure that the family and loved ones of the person who dies receive guidance, support, and education. They help those who are grieving adjust to life without the person who died and find meaning again. Grief specialists offer a safe space for healing through individual meetings, support groups, and classes. In addition to in-person support, loved ones receive mailers for 13 months following the death that include helpful resources, encouragement, and practical steps to guide their healing.
Our expert grief and bereavement team meets those grieving where they are in their journey, providing hope, healing, and connection.
When you give a gift to Tri-Cities Chaplaincy, you ensure that patients and families receive exemplary spiritual, emotional, and physical care during life’s most challenging times. Thank you for your ongoing support and for making a substantial impact on others in our community.
